Music and Theatre Programming
DMA offers comprehensive training and support to help students achieve their goals, whether they're performing in our Educational Theatre programming or preparing for a career in Chicago's professional theatre industry. Students have access to a variety of resources, including group classes, workshops, and private training, to help them succeed.Our new collaboration with Phosphorescent Theatrical Productions offers a variety of exciting new programming options. These opportunities will provide our students with the skills needed to audition for various forms of media and professional theatre.
Music and Theatre Group Classes
TRIPLE THREAT WEEKLY CLASS
This class teaches foundational acting skills and dramatic structure. Students learn how to create a character and tell a story through acting, singing, and dancing. Students will also learn tap skills in this class. As they progress, students will learn the different techniques for performing on stage and on screen and have the opportunity to perform lead roles in the spring recitals.
THEATRICAL DANCE
This class series integrates fundamental dance alignment, essential jazz dance techniques, and dance call readiness for theatrical auditions. It is designed for middle and high school theatre students seeking to improve and refine their dance abilities in preparation for upcoming auditions.
FALL PRODUCTION
Each fall, the Dance and Music Academy produces an abbreviate version of a musical. Auditions occur in late August. For more information or to be added to the email distribution list for this production, email trifectadma@gmail.com
ARC MUSICAL THEATRE LAB
The ARC Musical Theatre Lab series an invitation-only program tailored for young aspiring professional performers. The year-long program is divided into three sections, each focusing on dance, vocal performance, and acting. Students will present an ensemble dance production number at the DMA Spring Recital, a Cabaret vocal showcase, and be cast in a larger scene of the fall production to focus on acting skills. SIGHTSINGING AND MUSIC THEORY SERIES
The DMA Summer Sighting and Music Theory series is carefully crafted to provide aspiring musicians with the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to excel in their vocal auditions. By participating in this program, students will be able to kickstart their learning journey, deepen their understanding of music theory, and enhance their vocal abilities. This comprehensive series equips participants with the confidence and preparation needed to stand out and shine during auditions.
